Description

The Church of St Thomas of Canterbury is a Grade II* listed building, constructed between 1847 and 1849, designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. It is built from coursed rubblestone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The church is designed in the Decorated Gothic style and has an aisled nave without a clerestory, a lower chancel, and a south porch, each under separate roofs. A three-stage tower is located at the north-west, topped with a spire that is recessed behind a parapet adorned with pinnacles. Inside, the church includes arcades, a reredos, a font, and some contemporary and later 19th century stained glass. The pews have been renewed.
