Description
The niche in the north-west corner of the forecourt of the Geffrye Museum is a Grade II* listed structure. It is made of red brick and framed by fluted and reeded Ionic columns, which are somewhat damaged. The niche features entablatures and an open pediment adorned with dentils and modillions. The head of the niche is crafted from finely gauged brick, with a moulded impost band and a central mask set against a shell design. At the bottom, there is a low shelf or seat topped with stone.
