Description
177-181 Stoke Newington Church Street is a group of early to mid-18th century properties. Number 177 has a projecting front section attached to number 179, which is set further back. Number 177 is two storeys high with three windows, built of stock brick with a newly rendered parapet. It has replaced sash windows with gauged flat brick arches above them. A late 19th-century projecting shop front is also present. Numbers 179 and 181 are an early to mid-18th century pair, similar in style to numbers 171 and 173, but with alterations. They are three storeys high, each with three windows, and have a renewed hipped roof covered in corrugated iron. The construction is brown brick with red brick dressings, and includes a second-floor band. Number 179 has a rendered front and modernised windows, while number 181 has gauged flat brick arches above recessed sash windows. Modern shops occupy the ground floor of all three properties. Numbers 169 to 185 form a group.
