Description
St Mary's Rectory is a mid to late 19th-century building located on Church Street in Stoke Newington. It is a tall structure with two storeys and an attic, featuring three bays, with the right bay slightly set back. The building has a high pitched slated roof adorned with three gables at the front. Constructed from stock brick with stone dressings, it stands on a massive stone foundation made of old railway sleepers. The windows have shouldered lintels beneath four-centred relieving arches. The central entrance, which is under a pointed arch, features a hoodmould with carved stops. Above the entrance, an angel corbel, which bears the arms of the Bishop of New Zealand, supports a triangular oriel with a pent stone roof. St Mary's Church, its railings, and the Rectory together form a cohesive group.
