Description

This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of properties, numbered 99 to 113 on Balls Pond Road in Islington. The terrace comprises 15 properties, each with three storeys and a basement, and originally featured two windows per property. The buildings are constructed of stock brick with parapet fronts; some rebuilding has taken place at the upper levels. Sash windows with glazing bars are a characteristic feature, except for the second floor of number 103, where the windows have been altered to casements. The ground floor windows are round-arched and set within round-arched recesses. A similar design is used for the door recesses, although number 99 has moulded architraves at ground floor level. The properties are relatively narrow in proportion. Each property features a fanlight over the entrance door, two of these fanlights being fitted with bars. A small projecting shop is located on the front of number 103. Numbers 93 to 113 form a cohesive group.
