Description
Nos 74 to 82 on Queen Victoria Street, built around 1870, are a classical stone building featuring three storeys, an attic, and a dormered roof storey. The facade has seven bays facing Queen Victoria Street, with shopfronts on the ground floor set between pilasters, topped by a frieze and a dentil cornice. The first and second floors are connected by rusticated pilaster strips, creating a rhythmic division of 1+2+1+2+1. Above the second floor, there is a dentil cornice. The first-floor windows are architraved and adorned with cornices, while triangular pediments on brackets flank the outer windows, and the central window features a broken segmental pediment with the City arms. The second-floor windows have segmental heads and are architraved with bracketed cills. The third floor has plain pilaster strips and a cornice, leading to a parapet and a slated mansard roof with pedimented dormers. A prominent stack is located at the corner, while the return elevations are simpler in design.
