Description
No 1 Cornhill, including No 82 Lombard Street, is a classical building completed in 1905, attributed to Macvicar Anderson. It is constructed from Portland stone and features a rounded corner that supports a dome. The building has five storeys plus a slated mansard roof. The ground storey and mezzanine are rusticated, while the two floors above are adorned with an order of engaged Ionic columns and pilasters. The top storey is crowned with a balustrade and urns. The main entrance is located on Cornhill and leads into the mezzanine, which has a scroll pediment. There is a shorter return to Lombard Street, and the drum of the lead-covered dome is accented with arched windows and consoles.
