Description

Numbers 1-11 and attached railings form a terrace of eleven houses built around 1852 in Camden. The houses are constructed of pale yellow stock brick, with the ground floors finished in channelled stucco and quoins and dressings adding detail. The buildings are three storeys high with basements, though numbers 3 and 9 are slightly recessed and originally two storeys in height, each with a single window. The ground floor windows are tripartite sashes, largely fitted with enriched cast-iron window guards. Each house has a prostyle Doric porch – numbers 5 and 6 are paired – which supports a continuous stuccoed balustrade to the tripartite window on the first floor. A screen of four half-columns with enriched capitals supports an entablature, the cornice of which supports a balustraded window guard to the tripartite window on the second floor, with a pilaster screen and entablature below. The third-floor windows are tripartite, architraved, and round-arched, each with a keystone. A heavy bracketed and enriched stucco cornice tops the facades. The interior of the properties was not inspected during the listing process. Attached cast-iron railings, with spearhead finials, are present to the areas.
