Description

This is a detached house built around 1889 by Harry Measures, constructed by William Willett & Son. The ground floor is red brick, while the upper floors are yellow brick with red brick dressings and pilasters at the corners, featuring terracotta detailing. The tiled roof is hipped and gabled, with dormers and tall, elaborate brick chimney stacks topped with projecting cornices. The design is asymmetrical.

The exterior is three storeys high, with an attic and a semi-basement. The window arrangement is irregular, with three windows visible. Ground-floor windows have small, patterned glazing at the top. Upper-floor sash windows have patterned glazing to the upper halves and glazing bars, all with gauged brick flat arches and central keystones. A left-hand gabled bay features a ground-floor five-light canted bay window supporting a balustrade, with the moulding repeated in two bands across the facade. The first and second floors of this bay have tripartite sashes with shaped aprons. A terracotta swag-enriched frieze runs across the second floor, continuing across the facade. The gable above has a round-arched window set in a red brick band, flanked by ball finials. Terracotta coped eaves have steps and a pediment with a ball finial.

The slightly recessed central entrance bay has a cornice hood supported by a brick bracket, above which is a pedimented overlight with patterned glazing, and a part-glazed panelled door with sidelights. A right-hand bay features a three-light canted bay window with a continuous bracketed sill, rising from the semi-basement through the first floor to a parapet at the second floor sash. This bay also has a pedimented gable. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
