Description
The gates, boundary walls, and railings to the rear gardens of numbers 2-20 Gower Street are located behind the houses and have a main gate that faces Malet Street. These structures were built in the late 19th century for the Bedford Estate. The walls are made of brick with stone coping and are situated at the rear of the houses, featuring scroll-enriched cast and wrought iron railings. The openwork box gate piers have floral finials and scroll-patterned gates. The main entrance gate on Malet Street is likely a later addition. The flanking stone piers are adorned with moulded panels, keystones, and ball finials, while the openwork cast and wrought-iron box piers also feature floral finials and scroll-patterned gates with floral designs.
