Description

This is a terrace of four houses built in 1794 by James Burton, located on Lansdowne Terrace in Camden. The buildings are constructed of darkened brick, showing evidence of tuck pointing, and have been refaced in mid-20th century multi-coloured stock brick. A plain stucco band runs along the first floor level. The terrace has four storeys and basements. Number 1 is double fronted with five windows, while numbers 2 to 4 each have three windows. The wide, round-arched doorways feature panelled jambs, with number 1 having brackets, mutule cornice-heads, fanlights, and panelled doors. The windows have gauged red brick flat arches and include recessed sash and casement windows, the latter being 20th century with small horizontally set rectangular lights and metal glazing bars. The terrace is topped with parapets. Although the interiors were not inspected, the attached cast-iron railings with urn finials to the areas in front of numbers 1 to 3 are notable subsidiary features.
