Description

Number 89 to 92 Guilford Street consists of four terraced houses built around 1792 to 1799 by James Burton. The houses at numbers 89 to 91 are constructed from darkened multi-coloured stock brick and rise four storeys with basements, each featuring three windows. They have round-arched doorways with pilaster jambs, cornice heads, radial fanlights, and panelled doors. There is a plain stucco band at the first floor level, and reddened gauged brick flat arches above the recessed two-pane sashes. A stucco cornice and blocking course complete the design. The attached cast-iron railings have urn finials.

Number 92 is also made of darkened multi-coloured stock brick and is a double-fronted house that slightly projects on the corner. It has four storeys and a basement, with three windows (the right-hand floors are blind) and a two-window return to Lansdowne Terrace. The round-arched doorway features a rusticated stucco surround, a keystone, a cornice, a fanlight, and a panelled door. There is a plain stucco sill band at the first floor, and reddened gauged brick flat arches above the recessed two-pane sashes. The house has a parapet and attached cast-iron railings with urn finials to the areas, as well as an entrance with a wrought-iron lamp overthrow. The interiors have not been inspected.
