Description
The Coram's Field Playground Memorial Pavilion is a memorial structure that serves as a playground shelter, built in 1936 by L.H. Bucknell in memory of Harold Vyvyan and Vere Harmsworth. The pavilion is designed in a Swedish-influenced Classical style, featuring brick and render construction with copper roofs. It has a central rotunda with columns at the open front, which supports a relief frieze depicting contemporary children at play. The rotunda is topped with a conical roof that has projecting bracketed eaves, and it is crowned by a globular clock and an iron weathervane. At the back of the rotunda, there is a lower brick range that extends to form wings, each containing a single window. The rear wall features a horizontally set window, and part of the rotunda drum rises through the roof at the back.
