Description

A terrace of thirteen houses, numbered 12 to 36, dating from around 1833 to 1839 and now largely converted into small hotels. The houses are constructed of yellow stock brick, with numbers 16 and 18 stuccoed. Numbers 22, 24-28, and sections of the building have painted ground floors. A plain stucco sill band runs across the first floor. Numbers 20 to 28 and 32 to 36 have slated mansard roofs with dormers, and all the houses have basements.

Each house originally had two windows. The ground floor openings are round-arched, and the doorways have stucco architraves, pilaster jambs supporting cornice-heads, fanlights (some patterned), and panelled doors. Most ground floor windows feature margin lights. The recessed sash windows on the ground floor have gauged brick flat arches, while those on the first floor are set within shallow, round-arched recesses with cast-iron balconies. The buildings are topped with parapets. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached to the front of the terrace are cast-iron railings with knob and disc finials marking the areas.
