Description
The Quaker International Centre, originally known as Courtauld House, is a house built around 1832 by Thomas Cubitt. It has since been converted into three residences but is currently used as a single occupancy. The building features painted stucco with a rusticated ground floor and stands four storeys high with basements. The symmetrical east facade has nine windows and projecting central bays. The south side has three windows (one of which is blind) and a two-storey extension to the west. The main entrance is located on the south facade and includes a projecting, balustraded porch with a square-headed doorway that has panelled jambs, a cornice head, an overlight, and a panelled door. The east facade also features similar doorways, some of which are part glazed. The projecting centre has four pilasters that support a simplified entablature and a pediment above the attic storey, with a cornice and blocking course above it. Before 1947, there was a continuous balustraded balcony on the first floor. The building is complemented by attached cast-iron railings with foliated finials in the areas. The interior has not been inspected.
