Description
33 and 35 Torrington Place are two houses, now used as a single residence, built around 1824 by Thomas Cubitt. The buildings are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, with some later patching, and feature a stucco ground floor. There is a plain band and cornice at the first floor level. The houses rise four storeys and include basements. Each former house has two windows, with two window returns. The doorways are located on the returns; No. 33 has a square-headed architraved doorway with a cornice and a 20th-century door on the Malet Place return, while No. 35 features two round-arched architraved doorways, one of which is blank and the other has a decorated fanlight and a panelled door. The former shopfront of No. 35 has been removed and replaced with windows. A continuous cast-iron balcony spans the first floor casement windows. The second and third floor windows are recessed sashes with gauged brick flat arches, and there is a parapet at the top. The interior has not been inspected.
