Description

This is a terrace of eight houses built around 1823 by John Nash. The houses are made of stucco and feature slate mansard roofs with dormers. They have rusticated stucco pilaster strips at the corners and form a symmetrical arrangement of three storeys, attics, and basements, with a total of 22 windows. Each end of the terrace has paired bowed bays containing three windows each. Number 1 is part of Number 13 Park Square East.

The ground floor has an attached Ionic order that supports an entablature at the first-floor level, except for the bowed sections, which have rusticated ground floors. The ground floor is treated with arcades featuring archivolts and moulded imposts. The doorways have cornice-heads, fanlights, and panelled doors. The first and second floors have architraved sash windows with cornices and glazing bars. The second-to-last bay at each end features paired sashes with a segmental pediment on the first floor and paired sashes with a pediment and guttae on the second floor. There is a plain sill band on the second floor and a dentil cornice topped by a balustraded parapet. The bowed sections include an additional attic storey.

The interiors have not been inspected. The terrace is complemented by attached cast-iron railings. Numbers 1 to 8, along with the forecourt railings, form a group that matches the design of Ulster Terrace on the west side of Park Square in Westminster.
