Description
Nos. 1, 2, and 3 Albany Terrace is a terrace of three houses located on the north side of Marylebone Road, built around 1823-1825 by architect John Nash. The buildings are constructed of stucco with a rusticated ground floor and feature a symmetrical arrangement of eight windows, with slightly projecting end bays and a three-window return (some blank) to Peto Place, and a one-window return to Park Square East.
The terrace stands four storeys high with basements. It has square-headed doorways that include vertically patterned fanlights and panelled doors, with No. 3 set back in a single-storey portico extension. The square-headed, recessed sash windows have architraves on the first and second floors, and the first floor features cornices with end bays that have console-bracketed pediments. A continuous cast-iron balcony runs along the first floor, while the return to Peto Street has a cast-iron trellis and a tented canopy. The end bays are flanked by Ionic pilasters on the first and second floors, supporting an entablature with a continuous main cornice at the third floor level, topped by a cornice and blocking course above the attic storey.
The interiors have not been inspected. The terrace is complemented by attached cast-iron railings with pineapple finials surrounding the areas.
