Description

A terrace of 18 houses built between 1799 and 1803 by James Burton. The houses are constructed of darkened yellow stock brick, with later patching, and Nos. 11, 13-16, 19 & 22 have stucco ground floors. Nos. 14-18 and 25-28 slightly project forward. The buildings are four storeys high with basements, and each house has two windows. The doorways are mostly round-arched, featuring reeded pilaster-jambs, cornice-heads, some radial fanlights, and panelled doors. The doorways of Nos. 13, 26 & 28 have been converted into windows; the doorway of No.27 is square-headed with a stucco surround. Stucco sill bands are present on the 1st and 3rd floors. Gauged brick flat arches, mostly reddened, frame the recessed sash windows, some of which have glazing bars. The 1st floor features cast-iron balconies. Parapets top the buildings. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with urn finials define the areas.
