Description

Numbers 1-17 and attached railings form a terrace of 17 houses built around 1829. The houses are constructed of darkened yellow stock brick, with later patching, and Nos 7-10 have been refaced. The ground floors are stuccoed, and the first floors have plain sill bands. Nos 9 and 10 feature channelled details. End and central houses have stuccoed second-floor sill bands and cornices with a blocking course; the recessed houses have plain stuccoed third-floor sill bands and parapets. The design is symmetrical, with projecting end houses (Nos 1-2 and 16-17) and central houses (Nos 7-11).

The houses are four storeys high with basements, each having two windows. They feature round-arched ground-floor openings, doorways with pilaster-jambs supporting cornice heads, fanlights (some radial), and panelled doors. Recessed sashes are under gauged brick flat arches (reddened at Nos 11-17), while the sashes on the first floor of the end and central houses are set within shallow round-arched recesses. Cast-iron balconies are present to the first-floor windows, except at No. 1.

The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings, featuring tasselled spearhead finials, are present along the areas.
