Description
The Interchange canal towpath bridge is a towpath bridge located between Southampton Bridge on Oval Road and Hampstead Road Lock on Camden High Street. It was built between 1848 and 1856 and was manufactured by J Deeley and Co from Newport, Monmouthshire, whose name is displayed on the bridge. The bridge features a single span made of cast iron with stone capped abutments. The approach ramps are laid with granite setts that were relaid in 1978. The handrail shows many tow rope grooves, along with iron strapping and stone capping.
