Description

Number 3 on Southgate Street is a house with a core dating back to the 16th century, though its exterior and alterations are from the 19th century. The building is timber-framed, with a brick front and roughcast render, topped by a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and features a two-window range with sashes that have vertical glazing bars in flush cased frames. The ground floor includes two early 19th-century shop windows that have heavy surrounds and cornices, along with three-light windows that have transoms. There is a 20th-century half-glazed door. The interior has earlier features, but they are currently concealed.
