Description
Nos. 11 and 13 Anchor Lane are two houses that were formerly one building. They date from the early 18th century, with a likely core from the 16th or 17th century, and have undergone alterations in the mid-19th century. The houses are two storeys tall and follow a three-cell lobby-entrance plan. The exterior is constructed from flint and brick rubble, featuring brick quoins that are painted, and has rendered parapet gables. The roof is pantiled and includes an axial chimney made of red brick.
No. 13 has small-pane sash windows from the 19th century, while No. 11 features 20th-century casement windows. Both houses have 19th-century boarded and panelled entrance doors. Surviving features from the 18th-century windows include chamfered hood moulds and traces of splayed reveals. A large blocked axial chimney and some oak framing members suggest the presence of an earlier core.
