Description
This building is an outbuilding to Number 3 Crown Street in Bury St Edmunds, originally serving as a coach house and stable, and now functioning as a garage with living accommodation above. It dates from the later 19th century and is constructed of flint with stone dressings and quoins, topped with a plaintiled roof that has two levels and a flat top.
The front features two arched doorways; one has a semicircular head while the other is wider and segmental-headed, both crafted in stone with Norman-style details. Above, there is a long dormer window that has four adjacent 2-light single bar casement windows. In the upper part of the north gable wall, there is a blocked window opening in Norman style, along with part of a blocked circular lunette above it, suggesting that the flat roof is a later addition. The lower section of the gable wall has been replaced with red brick. The interior has not been inspected.
