Description
No. 114 Northgate Street is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century, with older twin rear ranges likely from the 17th century. The front is made of white brick, while the sides and rear are rendered over timber framing. The lower part of the gable wall features coursed flint. The roof is slate with a wide plain eaves soffit.
The building has three storeys and a cellar, with the top storey being an addition. It has three windows, all late 19th century sashes without glazing bars, set in plain reveals with flat gauged arches and stone sills. There are raised brick bands between the storeys. The central entrance features a six-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, framed by a wood doorcase with moulded pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. The gabled two-storey rear wings are timber-framed and rendered, topped with 20th century plaintiled roofs and fluted bargeboards. The interior has not been inspected.
