Description

The Round House is a cottage built in the Gothic style as a lodge to Ixworth Abbey in the early 19th century. It has a single-storey, oval plan and is constructed with a timber frame and roughcast exterior. The conical thatched roof features overhanging eaves supported by a ring of posts. A central chimney stack is made of ornate moulded gault brick. The windows are casements with pointed arched heads, transoms, and diamond-leaded panes, with some painted windows to watch. The door is made of vertical planking and has applied pilaster strips. There is a small gabled projection on the right side that contains two 2-light Gothic casements.
