Description

Ballard's Place, formerly known as Green Gables, is a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house located in Cowlinge, Lambfair Green. The building has two storeys and attics, featuring a four-window range with 18th-century double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars. A modern panel on the front displays the date 1574. A central 20th-century porch extends from the front, which includes an 18th-century six-panel door with raised and fielded panels. The roof is tiled and has one 20th-century dormer window. Inside, there is a fireplace with an iron fireback that displays three shields, each bearing the initials N over ME. The front of the house has undergone renovations in the 20th century.
