Description

Church Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century. It has 1½ storeys and a two-cell plan. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a black glazed pantiled roof. Inside, there is an internal chimney stack featuring a saw-tooth design. The windows are late 19th century casements with horizontal bars, and there are two gabled dormers. To the north, there is a single-storey extension from the 19th century made of brick and flint, also with a glazed pantiled roof. This house is notable as the birthplace of the mother of Robert Bloomfield, the rural poet known for works such as 'The Farmer's Boy'.
