Description
The wall and gates to Ampton Hall are a long boundary structure, partly dating from the early 19th century and partly from the late 19th century. The wall is made of rubble flint, which is irregularly divided into bays by rusticated red brick piers, topped with two courses of red bricks. There are three gates, including a pair of finely ornamented 18th-century wrought iron gates featuring pinnacles, which are said to have originated from the demolished Livermere Hall in 1920. At the south end, there is an early 19th-century section of wall that curves in double arcs, featuring two separate low wrought iron gates. This section is constructed from squared black knapped flint with white brick rusticated flush piers separating the bays, and it includes two plain square gate piers.
