Description

Weavers is a house that was later used as a school and converted into offices in the late 20th century. The original part of the building dates from the late 15th century, with an early 17th-century wing extending back on the right side. There have been later alterations and 20th-century window changes. Both sections are timber-framed, with the original range weatherboarded at the front and plastered and color-washed at the rear. The roof is covered with pantiles and features a gable end brick stack, while the extension has a plain tile roof with a brick stack that pierces the roof slope.

The exterior includes a single-storey range with a two-storey gable-ended extension on the right. The entrance is located at the rear of the single-storey range. The street front has one five-light and one two-light early 19th-century metal casement window arranged continuously. At the rear, there is a plank door to the right of a five-light and a two-light early 19th-century metal casement window. The extension's gable wall is lit by a ground-floor four-light and a first-floor three-light 20th-century metal casement window. A drip plank runs along the eaves line, and the rear gable end features a 20th-century plank door under a hood supported by consoles, with a top-hung casement window on either side on both floors.

Inside, the early range has principal studs made of heavy scantling. The roof consists of three tie beams, with the center one being cambered and featuring arched braces that drop down to the wall posts. The north tie beam is supported by knuckle braces, and the ceiling is plastered. The extension has an exposed timber frame of lighter scantling and a roof with tie beams on arched braces, along with chamfered bridging beams. A 20th-century staircase is also present.
