Description
Hamlet House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made around 1800. It has a timber frame that is encased in rendered and colourwashed brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features a flat-topped dormer with a two-light casement. There are external brick stacks on both gable walls.
The house is two storeys high, with a basement and a dormer attic, and has a three-window front. The central entrance is elevated above the basement and accessed by six steps, featuring a cast-iron handrail. The entrance door is a six-panel design with a seven-vane fanlight, set within a doorcase that has narrow panelled pilasters and a dentillated hood supported by elongated fluted consoles. The reveals are also panelled. To the right and left of the entrance, there is one unhorned tripartite sash window with glazing bars arranged in a 2/2, 6/6, 2/2 pattern. The first floor has three unhorned sash windows, each with a 6/6 configuration. Above, there is a plain parapet over a dentillated timber eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
