Description

Church Cottages is a picturesque group of 16th to 17th century timber-framed and plastered cottages. They are one storey high with attics and were badly damaged by fire in 1966, but were restored in 1972. The cottages feature casement windows and boarded doors, with thatched roofs.

Church Cottages, along with the chimneys and premises occupied by Chris Bolden & Co, the George Hotel, Cosy Nook, Almore House, Corner Cottage, the mill occupied by A Kahn, Cavendish House, the Rectory, premises occupied by W J Cutting, Spring View, Middle Cottage, Water View, Canford House, and St Ronans, form a group. Additionally, Church Cottages also form a group with the Church of St Mary and Church Farmhouse on Peacocks Road.
