Description
The Old School House is a National School and schoolhouse, now used as a residence. It was built in 1842 and extended in 1872. The building is single storey and has an irregular shape. The older part is constructed of black knapped flint with red brick dressings. The street-facing side features a double Roman tiled roof with two gables. Below each gable, there are canted bay windows topped with pitched roofs covered in fishscale tiles. A central gabled porch is also present. On the south side, the schoolroom windows remain, consisting of triple full-height small-paned sashes, along with the original school door. The rear extension is made of red brick and includes two bands of blue headers across the front, a plaintiled roof, and large-paned sash windows with cambered heads.
