Description
Strutt's House is a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house located on Chilton Street in Clare. The building features an early 16th-century block at the west end, which has a jettied upper storey, and a later block added at right angles in the same century. Inside, there is a large internal chimney stack with two original fireplaces, one of which retains its original lintel. The house has two storeys, and the windows are primarily 19th-century double-hung sashes with vertical glazing bars, along with some casement windows. The east front includes a 20th-century brick gabled porch. The roof is tiled and hipped on the east block, while the west block has a crown post roof.
