Description
The watertower and flanking coach houses, located 320 metres east of Medina Rajneesh, were built around 1907 to serve Herringswell Manor, the estate of A.W. Ballance. The lower part of the watertower is made of red brick and features a grand central entrance gateway with a moulded and hood-moulded 4-centred arched opening made of terracotta, which has a pair of boarded doors. Above this entrance is a 4-light window with leaded casements. The upper part of the tower, which overhangs on all four sides, has exposed joist-ends and diagonal beams supported by brackets, with walling and gables constructed of half-timbering and rough-cast infill. The roof is a swept pyramid shape with two stages, topped by a set-forward gable that frames a clock with a bell above, and it is finished with a weather-vane finial. The flanking coach houses have gable fronts and similar arched doorways. This structure is included for its group value. The timber-framed and weather-boarded ranges at the rear are not of special interest.
