Description
Saxham House is a house from the early 16th century that has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. It has two storeys and is timber-framed, with the framing exposed at the front and brick-nogging added in the 20th century. The rear is rendered. The roof is covered with asbestos slates and features axial chimneys made of red brick. The windows are mainly 3-light casements from the 19th and 20th centuries. The entrance door, which is a six-panelled design from the early 19th century, is accompanied by a 20th-century open porch that also has an asbestos slate roof. The house was likely originally a three-cell structure, but the right-hand service cell has been demolished, leaving the parlour and most of the hall intact. There is an unglazed diamond-mullioned window in the gable of the parlour chamber. The roof was rebuilt in the early 20th century.
