Description
All Saints' House is a former rectory with a core dating from the 16th century, but it is mainly from the mid-18th century and early 19th century. The building is two storeys high with attics and has an L-shaped form. It is primarily timber-framed, with parts rendered and mostly faced in brick; the principal front features colourwashed red brick, while the east side and rear are white brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles.
At the west end, there is an early 19th-century single-storey semi-circular brick extension with a slated roof and one small-paned sash window. The house has three internal chimney stacks with plain red brick shafts. The small-paned sash windows are set in flush frames with flat arches, and there are three gabled dormers with pierced and fluted barge-boards and plain two-light casement windows.
The central doorway is flanked by two smaller mid-20th-century sash windows. The entrance features mid-20th-century three-panel double doors in a Georgian style, which are recessed and surrounded by panelled sides, half-columns with diagonal reeding, and a flat pediment. Inside, there are remnants of 16th-century work, including a large chimney stack with two back-to-back hearths that has been opened up, as well as several ceiling beams, most of which are boxed. The entrance hall contains several six-panelled doors with raised fielded panels and rounded heads. In the rear hall, the floor is made of large early 19th-century pamments in alternating red and cream.
