Description

Goldbrook House is a house dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a plaintiled roof that features some rows of fishscale tiles. The house has two storeys and an attic, following a two-cell, lobby entry layout.

There are two windows on the ground floor, which are late 19th century mullion and transom casements, and on the upper floor, there are mid 20th century single-pane casements, all with three lights. A late 19th century gabled porch with a partly-glazed door is present, along with a small extra window above the porch. The internal stack has two octagonal flues and was rebuilt in the mid 20th century.

Attached to the left gable end is a mid 20th century lean-to conservatory, and there are further lean-to additions at the rear, facing the road. The ground floor rooms feature axial bridging beams, with the longer room on the left having exposed chamfered joists. The first floor displays some impressive framing with heavy reverse-curved braces, and both upper rooms have ceilings with chamfered joists. The staircase has a newel post, with the lower flight being original. There are some 18th century two-panel doors, and while the roof structure is not visible, it has likely been renewed in the 18th or 19th century.
