Description

Chilton Hall Barn is an 18th-century barn that features a timber frame set on a brick plinth and is weatherboarded with a corrugated-iron roof. The east side of the barn has two gabled transept entrances, each with timber doors, and between these entrances are corrugated-iron outshuts, all topped with gabled roofs. Inside, the barn has a close-studded frame with arched braces, and the tie beams are supported by knuckle braces and arched braces at the transept entrances. The roof structure consists of clasped purlins and collars, and there are many internal partitions throughout the barn.
