Description
Home Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse that features a timber frame with roughcast render on the front and right sides, while the remainder is constructed of red brick, with the left gable end being colourwashed. The roof is covered with mid-20th century concrete pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, designed in a two-cell form with a lobby entrance. Part of the left cell and possibly a service cell beyond has been lost.
There are two windows on the ground floor, which include 19th-century and mid-20th century casements, while the first floor has 19th-century windows with cavetto-moulded mullions. The 19th-century doorway features a six-panelled door with a plain rectangular fanlight and a bracketed hood. Notable architectural features include a good original stack with a sawtooth pattern and an inset diamond panel at the base, as well as 19th-century pierced bargeboards on the left gable.
Inside, both ground floor ceilings have moulded cross beams. The upper floor contains a well-crafted panelled cross partition, likely original, with a door on cock's head hinges. In the opposite room, there is another panelled partition, probably from the 17th century. The staircase is a newel type, and there are some original doors and floorboards on the first floor. The roof structure includes clasped and butt purlins.
