Description
Southlands is a house with a probable 16th century core, featuring alterations from the 17th century and early 19th century. It has two storeys, with the central range including attics, a cross-wing to the left, and a higher wing at the rear right. The building is mainly timber-framed, with the front and side walls covered in early 19th century gault brick. It has hipped roofs covered in plain tiles. A large axial chimney has a rebuilt shaft made of 19th century gault brick, and there are external chimneys to the left of the cross-wing and another at the rear. The house features two 19th century flat-headed casement dormers and early 19th century small-pane sash windows with flat arches made of gauged brick. The entrance door, located in a lobby-entrance position, is from the 19th century and is accompanied by a gabled open porch supported by slender wooden posts and arched headed lights. The interior has not been examined.
