Description
Pie Hatch is a former farmhouse with its core dating back to the early 16th century, featuring alterations from various periods, including around 1970. The building has a timber-framed structure with a central range of three bays and stands two storeys high. The first floor jetties out towards the road, with the left-hand bay later underbuilt. The exterior showcases exposed close-studding, and the bressumer and girth beneath the jetty are both moulded and embattled, with the joist-ends also exposed. Two chamfered brackets rise from pilasters that have carved capitals. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has a central 19th-century chimney made of red brick. The building features 20th-century casement windows. To the left is a 19th-century range made of red brick, and to the right is a 20th-century extension that is plastered and also has a plain tiled roof, neither of which are of special interest.
