Description
The barn located 50 meters north-west of Felsham Hall dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It has about seven bays, with the easternmost bay added in the 18th century for use as stabling, complete with a loft above. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, and its roof features several types of pantile, including Roman and double-Roman, although it was likely thatched at one time. On the south side, there are two gabled porches from the 17th century, each with sets of boarded doors from the 19th or 20th century. The barn displays good close-studding with a middle rail, broad tiebeams at open trusses, and straight and slender archbraces. It has a clasped purlin roof. Originally, the barn extended further west; an open truss at this end was modified to create a gable in the 19th century. Felsham Hall itself is not a listed building.
