Description
Silver Street Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1570 to 1600. It has a three-cell cross-entry plan and stands two storeys tall. The building is timber-framed and plastered in large panels, topped with a hipped roof covered in concrete tiles. An axial chimney, rebuilt in 19th-century gault brick, is present. The windows are 20th-century three-light casements with leaded lights. There is a 20th-century gabled porch at the lobby entrance, featuring a half-glazed panelled door. The framing is fully exposed, showcasing close-studding and a diamond-mullioned window, with evidence of additional windows. The floor joists are laid flat, with those in the hall being chamfered. Inside, there are back-to-back open fireplaces. A rear timber-framed wing was added in the late 18th or early 19th century.
