Description
33 and 33A Ipswich Street are two shops that were formerly one shop, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick and has a roof made of concrete tiles. It stands two storeys high and features a three-window front. The shopfronts, which are from the late 20th century, are made of plate glass with aluminium doors. On either side of the shopfronts, there are early 19th-century fluted pilasters that belong to the original premises. The first floor has a central window bay that projects forward and contains a late 18th-century 6/6 sash window in an exposed frame. This central window is flanked by similar 8/8 sash windows on the right and left, all of which are set under gauged skewback arches. The building is topped with a modillion eaves cornice beneath a gabled roof, and there is a gault brick stack on the rear roof slope to the south.
