Description
Vista Steps at Shrubland Hall is a flight of ornamental steps built in the mid-19th century, likely as part of landscape improvements by Sir Charles Barry. The steps are located at the northern end of the Green Terrace.
The nosing and balustrade are made of limestone, while the treads are covered in cement. The terrace itself is constructed from yellow brick.
The staircase features a flared base with five steps that curve outward, ending in empty round plinths at each end of the curtail step. Above this, there are ten balustraded steps with square plinths at each end, leading up to a rectangular terrace that is stone-flagged and balustraded on the south, east, and west sides. The base of the terrace is made of rusticated yellow brick.
