Description
The gates, gate piers, and boundary wall located 10 meters south of Ashfield Lodge date from the early 19th century. The gate piers are made of gault brick, while the boundary wall is constructed from red brick, all in Flemish bond. The piers are approximately 0.7 meters square and 2.5 meters high, featuring limestone cappings and ball finials. There is a pair of piers on either side of the carriage gateway, which was blocked in 1987 with gault brick walling. To the left, there is an additional pier about 1 meter away, which may have once served as a pedestrian gateway, but this opening is now blocked with old gault brick walling. The top of the wall is weathered, with half-round copings. Near the gateway, the wall reaches about 2 meters in height, extending to the left for approximately 40 meters, where it gradually drops to about 1.5 meters. To the right, the wall extends for about 100 meters at its full height. The wrought iron carriageway gates remain in place at the blocked main gateway.
