Description
The Old Forge is a house that was once the Old Dun Cow beerhouse. It dates back to the 17th century, with 19th-century additions. The building is timber framed, featuring mainly old plasterwork, while the left gable end is roughcast-rendered. It has a thatched roof and stands two storeys high. There are two 18th-century square-leaded casement windows, along with an additional 19th-century window located at the lower right. The entrance is through a 19th-century colourwashed brick porch that has scalloped bargeboards, leading to a mid-20th-century solid door with a 19th-century overlight above. The stack has a rendered shaft. To the right, there is a one-storey colourwashed brick addition with a slated roof. At the back, there is a two-storey wing, with the upper storey clad in corrugated iron. The interior has not been examined.
