Description
Boxtree Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600 or the early 17th century, built in two stages. It has one storey and attics, featuring a three-cell lobby-entrance plan. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, with a concrete tiled roof that was formerly thatched. An early 17th-century axial chimney made of pink brick has a sawtooth shaft. The house includes two raking dormers with 20th-century casements, as well as mid-20th-century casements and a gabled porch with a half-glazed panelled door at the lobby entrance. On the left gable, there is a moulded oversailing tie beam, and the parlour cell at this end was extended in the early 17th century. Inside, there is a lintelled open fireplace in the parlour, and the roof features clasped purlins. A rear kitchen wing, which is a later addition, dates from the 17th century.
