Description
This barn, located 80 meters north of Tannington Hall, dates back to the 16th century and is currently used in part as a tack room for the adjoining stables. It features a timber frame, with sections that are weatherboarded and rendered. The roof is covered in corrugated sheeting and includes one catslide dormer. The barn is likely structured in six bays, with a cart entrance situated in the third bay from the west. The two bays at the western end have closely spaced heavy studs, a middle rail, and reverse-curved braces connecting the posts to the wallplate. The original tie beam braces have been replaced with knee braces. The roof incorporates clasped and butt purlins, along with two-way arched wind braces. The area to the east of the cart entrance was not fully examined. At the eastern end, there is an intermediate floor that includes a ground floor tack room and a mid-20th century brick-walled through passage. The stables and dwelling attached to the south are not considered to be of special interest.
